The first art books with color images were very expensive because color printing was
so expensive.
One approach to holding down the cost of such books was to "hand-tip" or
"tip in" the color images.
The color illustrations were printed separately from the book pages.
Then each color image was trimmed to size and glued (by hand) onto the page.
Many such early art books in color are now highly collectible.
I use the same approach for note cards
with my original color images.
I trim each design and then hand-glue it into place on the front of the note card.
These note cards have hand-tipped images~~
