This piece is an exercise in value and contrast.
Two varieties of real oak leaves were used to draw my original block patterns.
Those same oak varieties plus others were used for the quilting patterns.
All the materials are commercial cotton prints.
What I most like about this wall hanging is the way that some leaves are easy
to see while others hide -- in a few of the blocks the viewer has to search
to find the edges and distinguish the leaves.
Techniques used --- fusing, machine blanket-stitching and edge-stitching,
machine-piecing, machine-quilting |
