My carousel-animal note cards began with my photos of a fine old local carousel.
I scanned my photos and, in my computer, painted out the backgrounds around each animal.
Then I used image-processing software to generate variations of each animal.
Several different effects were applied in sequence to produce each animal variation.
But these computer-generated versions alone were not satisfactory.
So I printed out each variation of each animal
and then used color pencils and pens to add definition and highlights.
Some animals received considerable hand-coloring
to add details not present in the photos or lost during computer processing.
Software used: Corel
Draw, Corel Photo House, Corel Photo Paint, Microsoft Photo House.
The final color reproductions are hand-tipped onto the card fronts.
What does this mean?
The folded note cards are 5.5 by 4.25 inches, blank inside.
