A 5-table rotation allows 20 people to play cards at 5 tables,
changing partners and opponents and tables for each round.
My 5-table progressive instructions are a PARTIAL rotation.
My 5-table rotation goes for 9 rounds within which
each player always has a different PARTNER for each rotation.
But in the higher of those 9 rounds
a few players will have a repeat in one of their opponents.
A full 5-table rotation would actually be 19 rounds, so that each person
would be partnered with every other person once (and only once).
It took me considerable time to work out just the 9 rounds I am now providing
I hope to expand my 5-table rotation someday to more than these 9 rounds.
A desirable full rotation would also have as few repeats in opponents
as possible, particularly no opponent more than three times.
The ideal full rotation would have no opponent more than twice.
Working out a full rotation with these characteristics -- no repeats
in partners and few repeats in opponents -- is an extremely difficult task.
